About us

At Brightland, we believe the Pacific Northwest winters deserve a little more light.

Founded in the fall of 2025 and based in Ballard, Brightland hit the ground running installing custom holiday lighting for local neighborhoods and commercial spaces alike — including projects like the beloved Top Banana market in Ballard.

What truly sets us apart is our team. Every employee at Brightland is also a professional Cascades mountain guide. We spend our off-seasons climbing peaks, traveling on ropes, and working safely at height in some of the most demanding terrain in Washington. That experience translates directly into the work we do every day. From rooftop installations to large-scale commercial displays. We know how to move efficiently, stay safe, and handle challenging installations with confidence.

We’re passionate about the Cascades, proud to call Washington home, and inspired by the communities we work in. During the darkest months of the year, we love helping bring warmth, light, and a little extra joy to homes, rooftops, streets, and storefronts across the region.

Brightland is more than a lighting company — it’s a crew of climbers bringing brightness to the Northwest, one installation at a time.

Leland Nisky

Owner/Lead Light Tech

I’m the owner and lead light technician with nearly 10 years’ experience installing residential and commercial holiday displays — from neighborhood homes to city projects in Boulder, Broomfield, Louisville (CO) and Bellingham, Blaine, and Lynden (WA). When I’m not hanging lights I work as a mountain guide with Alpine Ascents in Washington and Alaska, teaching mountaineering, rock, and ice climbing courses. I’m an AMGA-certified Alpine guide and a passionate climber. I live locally in Ballard with my fiancée and our cat.
